Please let me know what you think about this one. I have a hard time with it. Thanks. If you know Leah you may be able to help more than others, if not just let me know what you think about how I painted it. About the artwork.

wine label project

Well the past few days instead of painting portraits Ive been focusing on a wine label illustration for my uncle. The Wine is called Frogberry Ridge. Let me know what you think. The final image is on top and the bottom image is my first go at it.

Im finding that the people I know best seem to be the hardest to paint. Perhaps it is because it doesnt look like the person I know even if it looks like the photo. I realized also that I have never painted Ashley before in the 14 years that I have known her.

this one has been difficult. You can see in the picture my two attempts, so far the second is going better, but after 3 hours I was frustrated and walked away for the day. Ill try to work on it tomorrow.

comments

I wanted to thank you all first for your comments, and I hope you dont mind, I'd like to post them annonymously. I'd like to have a conversation started and let you all see what eachother are saying about my work. I find it fascinating and I hope you all do too.

- awesome! i think you are right on, with the portrait of aaron. :)
- Liked the chicken (orange triptich) and Aaron best. Of course I know what I think you look like, and it wasn't a match or an interpretation for me. Grandpa reminded me of photos I've seen, don't know what your subject looks like. The Aaron portrait drew me in, and the chicken triptich has a magic quality to it.
-You're so talented! I love the picture of your grandpa! That's awesome!
Just a note, you might want to change your profile, it says that you're 250 years old!

If you all email me I can post your comments or feel free at the bottom to click the comment spot and post from there.
Thanks again, more paintings to come.

Aaron

Portrait #3

This one was difficult. Aaron has an expression on his face that was hard to capture an has a long face with defined features. I don' think i quite captured it, maybe I'll try again on another day.

Portrait a Day

I've been horrible at updating this blog, but now I have new project and want to share it. I've been neglecting my painting talent recently, ok for a long time. I have been using other things to keep me busy, but now I am starting new this year and I am going to try to paint a portrait a day. We will see how well I keep to this, some may take more than one day and I will note that in each particular post.

Hope you all enjoy and I really look forward to your comments and criticism.

Also, here is the final photo from the Chicken and Egg triptych.
