Riley Baby Announcements

We have finished Michelle and Anthony's announcements for their new baby AJ. Thank you to Michelle and Anthony for letting us do such an important event. We are really happy with how they turned out. The Announcements will be both a baby announcement and holiday card for the Riley's. Please let us know what you think.

Coel Holiday Cards Finished

Here is the final product for the Coel Holiday Cards...

Coel Holiday Cards

Our latest project has been holiday cards for one of my husband's co-workers.  This is just the sample, so the final one may change, but please let us know what you think.
The envelope has the stitching to match the card.  It is a 5x7 envelope so when stitched it fits a square card perfectly and the client doesnt have to pay the extra postage to send out a square card.  The Coel's really like blues and greens, and the square format.

Peterson-Pendle Wedding Invitations

Brooke and I have been working on these invitations for a couple months. They have been the most involved project we have done so far. They include and invitation, directional card and RSVP postcard. The envelope has the return address printed on the back flap and everything is printed on ivory paper. The wedding colors are orange, coral and purple.
Please let us know what you think.

The Name Game...

Yes we are still playing the name game, but hoping to narrow it down and nail it down soon. Here are the top three we are playing with: Adorn, Asterisk, and Happenstance

Others that have been thrown around recently but are not in our top three for the running: Ampersand (there is a product design firm in Austin with that name, afraid it may be confusing), Hiccup, cartabella, fresh, fiore, bellina.

Our Background, summarized well by Brooke
"...we met in Austin, but came to find out that we both attended CSU as art majors and also studied abroad through the same program in Italy. That's where Happenstance comes in. Adorn is a thought based on the concept that we'd like to make adornments or personal handmade touches to projects. Asterisk we thought would be fun, being that it's a typographical element (graphic design) and could use as an icon."

Any and all suggestions will be welcome. Please leave a comment on this post, let us know what you think, or what you may suggest. Thanks in advance!

Bridal Shower Invitation

Here is our latest invitation job.  This was for a bridal shower.  The wedding colors are plum and sage, and their flowers are Calla Lilies. The cord we used is satin cord and the decorative tags were printed plum colored.  Everything was printed on Mohawk Cardstock in Ivory.  The project also included a matching recipe card for the guest to fill out and give to the bride.
Please let us know what you think.

Pirate Party Invite

Brooke and I finished our second project for our new business. This invite is for a three year old birthday party with a pirate theme. The client didn't want a basic primary colored kids party invitations so this is what we came up with.

Austin Family Magazine

&otI had my first official print for a magazine illustration job. It should come out in the October issue. Its for a story about having your children learn about their heritage. Here is the final artwork.

These are a few spot illustration for within the text of the story.

Our first project and a name?

Our first official project as co-workers and co-designers was a baby shower invitation for a friend of mine here in Austin. It went extremely well and we were very happy with the final product. Here are a few pictures, please comment.

Unfortunately we are dragging a feet when it comes to picking a name and designing our own logo and business package. We will get there soon hopefully. Here are the top few we are tossing around and any suggestions are welcome!
-Due (due-a, the italian word for Two)
-Ampersand ( the word for the & sign for and)
-Magnolia

long time...

So some of you who may actually read this blog might be wondering where I've been and what's going on with my artwork. Well... the story is I've been busy. Busy with several new adventures in the world of art. Im currently starting a business with my friend and colleague Brooke. We are specializing in Invitation and Stationary design as well as other forms of art and design. We are slowly picking up business and so far so good. It seems we may have a nice niche in the handmade card industry, or at-least somewhat handmade. Each one has some handmade element, wether its stitching, assemblage or collage. I've also had a few odd end illustration jobs here in there that I will post about. As far as my paintings they have taken a back seat to everything else, but if anyone has a need for a commissioned piece please contact me Im still available for that. I do hope however to start painting again soon. Please keep reading and checking, i really promise to try and update more often.
